Before becoming a flower fanatic, Patricia studied at the University
of Hawaii and earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.
When she first began learning floral arrangement some years ago is
when she realized that she had found her art in life. She decided
to learn everything about this art, focusing on various historical
and cultural periods throughout the world. Patricia's personal favorite
style is of the dramatic Dutch Flemish-influenced floral arrangements
such as the paintings of great Dutch Masters. She also loves romantic
as well as natural designs, and often incorporates whimsical ideas
and elements in her work. One of her teachers is the great Ikebana
master Ms. Ann Nakatani, who has done floral arrangement for more
than 50 years and has appeared in various TV shows.
A retail floral shop usually needs to pass their overhead costs to
its customers, thus charging them higher prices. Since Patricia works
from her studio at home, she is able to eliminate most of the overhead
